Name:  Richard John Seddon (aka King Dick)

Born:   22 June 1845, Eccleston, England

Died:   10 June 1906, age 60 at sea

Who was he?  

Richard Seddon was the 15th Prime Minister of New Zealand from 27 April 1893 to 10 June 1906 when he died from a heart attach at sea.  He was our longest serving Prime Minister and is regarded by some as our greatest political leader.

Why is he a famous West Coaster?

Richard Seddon lived on the West Coast in Kumara. He was an advocate for miners rights and issues.  In 1877 he was the first mayor of Kumara.  1879 to 1906 he was MP for Kumara, Hokitika and Westland.  In 1893 to 1906 he was the Prime Minister of New Zealand.

A bit about his legacy.

There are a number of streets, competitions and even a town named after him.  Seddon started the Old Age Pension or Superannuation we have today.

My thoughts.

Richard John Seddon was called King Dick because he was bossy and like to control everything.  I knew that Richard John Seddon was called King Dick but I didn't know he was such an important Prime Minister or that he was from here.  If I could ask him one question, it would be "What would he suggest we could do to fix the lack of jobs here".

Week 4 Reflection

Writing - we had to put the correct punctuation in the spots it is meant to go to. I found this task easy to do. my highest round is round four.

Maths - For maths we had to make a question on decimals. This was a bit hard because I did not have a idea for a question but it got easier when I got a question. I cant put it on to show you because my page crashes when I paste it on to html.


Reading - For reading we had to do a thing where we had to think of what we would were on a 45 degree hot day. I found this task very easy.

Reflection W3 T2

Literacy - for literary we had to write a narrate on Charlotte's Web. I found this task easy.

Templeton stared at the dull egg with his greedy eyes. He rolled it away very slowly into his den trying not to break it otherwise he would be dead.

Numeracy - for numeracy we had to make decimal questions and we had to answer them. I found this task hard because this was my first time working with decimals.


Topic - This here is banqer we use this like the real world because you can buy houses and pay for mortgages. Next week I am going to pay for the couch for the whole week. It cost $300 per person for the week.
